Come As You Are. Leave Unbridled.

This Giving Tuesday, I want to share a story that is at the heart of why we launched our new nonprofit, Unbridled Wild Connections Inc., a registered 501(c)(3).
Many of you know our journey began with Unbridled Wild — clinics, demos, and sharing the wisdom of horses. But as the work deepened, we saw a greater calling: a place where horses and humans could heal together. A place where you could come as you are and leave unbridled.

And that calling began with a mustang named Sunny.
When Sunny first came to me, he was a wild mustang who had every reason not to trust people. His nervous system was always ready to protect itself — flight, tension, and loud reactions that said, “I’m not okay.”
If I stepped in too fast, his energy rose like a wall.
If pressure stayed on too long, he questioned whether he needed to defend himself.
If I treated confidence like compliance, he quickly reminded me that safety can’t be forced.
So I stopped asking, “How do I get him to do this?”
And started asking, “What does he need to feel safe enough to choose me?”
We slowed everything down.
We celebrated the smallest shifts — an eye softening, a breath releasing, one brave thought toward connection instead of away from it. I learned to honor his boundaries, and over time, something extraordinary happened.
Sunny learned that he never had to lose his voice in order to belong.
To this day, we ride together without anything on his head — no halter, no bridle — because our connection is rooted in choice, not control.
This Is What We Want for People, Too
The individuals who will one day step into the arena with Sunny and other horses like him know what it’s like to live in survival mode. To wonder if saying “no” will cost them belonging or safety.
Our equine-assisted learning programs are designed to provide a safe, supportive space where participants can:
• Reconnect with their bodies in a way that feels grounded and secure
• Build relationships rooted in trust, respect, and healthy boundaries
• Rediscover confidence and choice through connection with horses
We are in the launch phase now — preparing our herd and our facilities — so that in 2026, we can safely welcome participants into this healing work.
Your support helps make that possible. It ensures our horses are fully prepared as healing partners and helps us build the curriculum, training, and resources needed to welcome participants into a calm and supportive environment — one where horses and humans can breathe again, learn again, and hope again.

From the bottom of my heart — and from Sunny and the entire herd — thank you for believing in this mission before the world fully sees it.
With gratitude and unbridled hope,
